The granulator has gate shears with a rotating shaft. A perforated screen is located underneath the shaft. The material is crushed between rotating and stationary shears until it falls through the screen holes.

Both the cutting unit and the funnel open hydraulically by 90°. The heart of all Unicrex granulators is the unique rotor shaft on which the individual rotor arms made of hardened special steel are mounted.
